‘Colours of Life’ a solo exhibition by German artist Inga Schmidt, a professor at the Berlin Art Academy, was opened on 27 May in the Museum Centre. The main purpose of Inga Schmidt’s exhibition was to acquaint art lovers with her works.
It was stressed that the works presented in Baku are part of the artist’s huge oeuvre. Portraits of people she has met on her travels prevail among the works displayed in the exhibition. The artist, on her fourth visit to Azerbaijan, is in love with our capital.
Inga Schmidt is a modern artist whose imaginative thinking is not confined to the frames of realism. An artist who mainly portrays the human face relates this to a special philosophy. “There is an unread life story in every facial expression. In fact this is a philosophy of life. And the purpose of the artist is to feel and convey it to canvas or tableau”.
Inga Schmidt cooperates with People’s Artist Omar Eldarov, rector of the Azerbaijani Art Academy, in creative and educational work. While in Baku, she gave lessons to the students of the Art Academy and shared with them the secrets of modern art styles in traditional artistic techniques.
27 works were displayed in the exhibition.
