Ceremony to award orders, medals and honorary titles to people honoured for their outstanding contributions to culture

A ceremony to award orders, medals and honorary titles to people honoured for their outstanding contributions to culture, by decree of the President of Azerbaijan signed in 2011, was held in the Round Hall of the Museum Center on 5 October 2011.
The Minister of Culture and Tourism, Abulfaz Garayev, delivered a speech at the event noting that Azerbaijan has been developing steadily in a number of spheres since independence; he especially underlined the successful progress in the cultural sector and spoke of its achievements. The minister congratulated all the art figures who were being honoured and said that they deserved this high appreciation: “Among those being honoured are eminent cultural figures and people who have given selfless service to the government, museums and libraries. They are well known to society and are greatly respected by all. I congratulate each and every one and wish them even more success in the future. I strongly believe that this appreciation of their work will surely influence their future work and creativity”.
Then Minister Abulfaz Garayev presented orders, medals and honorary prizes to those honoured by decree of the head of state.
People’s Artist and renowned singer Khuraman Gasimova was awarded the Order of Sheref (Glory), Aghasamad Samadov and Zabit Nabizade were named People’s Artists, Barat Aliyev, Elshad Baghirov, Rovshan Guliyev, Vagif Garayzadeh, Ziya Shikhlinski, Aygun Samadzadeh and Boyukagha Mammadov were made Honoured Art Workers, Rashid Hasanov became Honoured Artist, 30 art figures were named Honoured Artists and 13 people were awarded the honorary title of Honoured Cultural Worker. Staff members of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism were also among those receiving awards. The head of administration, Firudin Gurbanov; head of the department of investment and technical programmes, Ruslan Abdulalimov; Head of the department of operations Kamal Kazimov; head of the department of finance and economy, Natig Abdullayev; and Assistant to the Minister Rafig Bayramov were awarded the medal for Distinguished State Service. Senior Adviser in the department of Cinematography, Almaz Sultanzadeh, was awarded the honorary title of Honoured Cultural Worker.
