Results of Competition held within the framework of the Year of Youth in CIS countries and Children’s Year in the Republic of Azerbaijan

3. Internet competition for young artists of the CIS countries "Me instead of both worlds"

On 13 April 2010 an award ceremony was held at the Museum Centre for the Internet competition “Mende sighar iki jahan, men bu jahana sighmaram...” (Two worlds may fit within me, but I cannot fit into this world), organized by the Ministry of Youth and Sports of the Republic of Azerbaijan for young artists of CIS member countries.
The Internet competition was held according to the “Priority Action Plan for the Humanitarian Sector of CIS Member Countries for the Years 2009-2010” approved by decree of the Council of the Heads of States of CIS member countries on 22 May 2009 and within the framework of the CIS Year of Youth.
173 youths from 7 CIS countries participated in the contest with 223 works. The winners of the competition were chosen by an international jury in an on-line regime by a closed system of voting. They voted according to these criteria: originality of the creative idea, alignment with the topic and the artistic skills and mastery of the artist.
According to the regulations of the competition, the jury chose 4 winners in the principal categories and 2 young artists were awarded special prizes for “the best idea” and “the best execution” and another 3 were given recognition prizes. Butunay Haqverdiyev won in the pictorial art, graphics and sculpture category, Turkan Huseinova for photography, Sergey Alekseevich for computer graphics and Oleq Pekar in the installation and performance category. Aleksey Bibikov was given the special prize for “the best idea” and Mehriban Shamsaddinskaya for “the best execution”. Anastasia Marus, Sveta Salko and Ilgar Talibov received recognition prizes.
