Exhibition-competition amidst young artists, devoted to the 100th year of Sattar Bahlulzade

The “Lyrical Landscape” competition, dedicated to the centenary of Sattar Bahlulzade, People’s Artist of Azerbaijan, and organised by the Ministry of Youth and Sport of the Azerbaijan Republic, together with the Union of Artists of Azerbaijan, was concluded on 15 September 2009.
The main purpose in holding the competition was to attract creative youth to the centenary of Sattar Bahlulzade. Further, the competitive exhibition was intended to bring out young talent and stimulate their creative work. 130 young artists between the ages of 16 and 29 participated in this event. The conditions of the competition allowed the entry of paintings and graphics. In all, 200 works were submitted.
In keeping with the title of the exhibition “Lyrical Landscape”, the young artists employed lyrical motifs and depicted the nature of their native Azerbaijan.
To choose competition winners, the Ministry of Youth and Sport approved a jury which selected the best of the best. The competition jury included: the Secretary of the Union of Artists, Agali Ibrahimov, artist Esmer Narimanbeyova, art critic Lala Eldarova and artist Namiq Mammadov and Elnur Mahmudov.
In the category ‘Painting’, first place went to Butunay Haqverdiyev, second was Elnur Hasanov and third place went to Ilgar Talibov. In the category ‘Graphics’, first was Inara Mammadova, second was Leyla Ibrahimova and third was Narmina Rzayeva. A catalogue of the competition was also published.
On 26 November the final exhibition opened in the gallery of the Museum Centre. The competition laureates were announced. The winners were presented with prizes, presents and certificates. The exhibition was open for three days.
