The final exhibition of the 1st Republic Festival of Decorative Fine Art of Azerbaijan, which was opened in the Museum Centre Art Gallery on 24 December2009, was intended to highlight the talent in various fields of this art and to display in a large auditorium the level of development of the decorative fine arts in Baku and the regions of our country. Works in the following categories of decorative fine art were displayed at the festival: carpets, tapestry, graphic embroidery, artistic inlay (in wood, metal, stone and bone), ceramics, artistic embroidery, glass work, knitting, macramé, jewellery and leather work. Preparations for the festival began in February 2009 and continued on 1 April in Ganja, 1 May in Lenkoran, 12-15 May in Sheki and 12-30 May in Khachmas. Representatives from eight of Azerbaijan’s regions took part in the first exhibitions. In September, exhibitions were opened in Absheron and Sumgayit. On 3 November a regional exhibition was held in Baku.
The final exhibition consisted of works chosen at regional competitions. A catalogue of these works will be published soon.
