On October 7, 2009 a memory party dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the first Azerbaijani actress Izzet Orudjeva was held in the Assembly Hall of the Museum Center. “They call me the first Azerbaijani film actress. Sometimes I think it is true. In general I was not an actress but I acted. No, I experienced two womanish fates in a movie camera.

These women were my contemporaries, and, to be more precisely, the persons of the same age. These words were spelled once by the first Azerbaijan film actress, starred in the films “Sevil'” (1929) and “The Diamond” (1936), and famous scientific chemist, academician Izzet Orudjeva. The life way of Izzet khanum is related to the art and science.

Izzet Mirzaaga gizi Orudjeva was born in 1909 in the city of Baku. In the 20s of the past century there was the Azerbaijani woman, who was not only able to study and become an engineer, but also starred in the cinema and considered a miracle.

After long searches the great dramatist Jaffar Jabbarli had met Izzet Orudjeva.

Izzet khanum writes about him in the memoires: “The producers of the film were Alibek Nazarov and Jaffar Jabbarli. Alibek wanted Nora Arzumanova to cast in the role of “Sevil”, but Jaffar Jabbarli was against that. He said that the Azerbaijani girl must act. So Izzet Orujeva acted in the film “Sevil'”. After this success the dramatist writes a script under the same name, shoots the film “Diamond” and provides guidance to make the film production by himself. Jaffar Jabbarli wanted Izzet Orudjeva to act. But the sudden death had not fulfilled his dream. His colleagues completed his work. Izzet Orudjeva in “The Diamond” makes a successful appearance of Azerbaijani woman. Then the young actress leaves the cinema industry to dedicate the rest of her life to science.
